Wolverhampton Art Gallery Opems Glass Routes as Part of International Festival of Glass |

WEST MIDLANDS.- Explore the story of contemporary glass showing the influence of Wolverhampton on glassmaking in China and around the world.
A range of beautiful glassworks will be on display. Large colourful pieces, detailed smaller works and digital projections of architectural glass will change the way you think of and experience glass. 49 international glass artists are represented in the exhibition, selected because they push the boundaries of creative production in this material.
All the makers are linked through association with the pioneering Professor Keith Cummings who has taught many international students at the University of Wolverhampton. Taught by Pop artist Richard Hamiliton during the 1960s, Cummings has built the international reputation of the University of Wolverhampton Glass department over 40 years. Cummings was instrumental in creating links with glass businesses and universities in Pretoria, Shanghai, Beijing and Dublin which gives this show an international theme.
Artists featured include Colin Reid, David Reekie, Susan Nixon, Catherine Hough, Stuart Garfoot, Professor Guan Donghai and Professor Xiao Wei.
A day long syposium at the University of Wolverhampton will compliment this exhibition. Find out more about 'Creative Pathways' on 22 August
