Watercolor Artist Tom Malloy, 95, Dies



TRENTON, N.J.-Tom Malloy, a Trenton watercolor artist, died at the age of 95. He was born in 1912. He was a factory worker and lay minister and took up painting as an adult. He chronicled the capital of New Jersey for many decades, painting landscapes, the architecture and city streets. Among his works are a Battle Monument and New Jersey Statehouse. He was lauded on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Rush Holt stated Malloy was a "truly a treasure in New Jersey's cultural heritage."

Many of his pieces are on display in the Thomas Malloy Gallery at the Trenton City Museum from August 21 through September 14, 2008.
