VIENNA.- The Albertina presents today “Infinite Ice: Traversing The Artic and the Alps from 1860 to the Present," on view through 23 November 2008. Frozen landscapes have always exerted a strong fascination on the public. The invention of photography made it possible to capture and reproduce a specific moment in nature, and photographers were especially drawn to remote parts of the world like glaciers and polar wastes. This year’s annual photo exhibition at the Albertina is devoted to this form of landscape photography. Works by mid-19th century pioneers of the genre are contrasted with contemporary approaches.
