Beyond Generation: How Yanice Yang Leads Human-Centered AI From Research to Launch

Across AI research, commercial products and enterprise software, product designer and HCI researcher Yanice Yang has taken a leading role in turning technical capabilities into workflows businesses can actually use.

HCI research gave Yang a technical foundation for AI product design

Artificial intelligence can recognize a gesture, generate an interface or turn a campaign brief into an image. But moving from technical capability to a working product requires another layer of decisions: what context a system needs, how users guide it, how outputs are reviewed and how the technology fits into an existing business workflow. Those decisions have become central to Yanice Yang’s work.

Yang’s background spans human-computer interaction research, generative AI products and enterprise software. She holds a master’s degree in Information, focused on HCI, from the University of Michigan, and her research has examined gesture recognition, visual tracking and generative interface design. One of her studies explores how human hand movements can be translated into signals a computer can recognize. A three-dimensional hand model maps joints and fingertips, revealing the structure required for a machine to interpret a human gesture. Another study examines diffusion-based interface generation, in which user input, design constraints and feedback guide the interfaces produced by AI. The technologies differ, but both address a question that would later become important in Yang’s product work: how to structure human intent so a computational system can act on it while keeping the result understandable and controllable.

From Product Definition to Commercial Deployment: Yang’s Role at AtlasNova.AI

At AtlasNova.AI, Yang has held a lead product-design role across AI content creation, competitive intelligence, onboarding and agency workflows. Her responsibilities extend beyond interface execution into product definition, workflow architecture, interaction design and prototyping. AI Content Studio is one of the clearest examples. Yang led the product from early definition through deployment, defining how brand information and campaign goals are translated into AI generation, how generated captions, images and video are organized, and where users review, refine and select outputs before delivery. The product has since moved into partner-platform deployment through AtlasNova.AI’s work with restaurant-technology companies and agencies across North America and Asia, placing Yang’s work within an established commercial technology environment. Her role was therefore not simply to design an interface, but to build the workflow that allowed AI capabilities to function as a repeatable product in real business use.

Yang’s influence also extends across AtlasNova.AI’s broader product ecosystem. For Competitor Insights, she defined the first-version scope, information architecture, data logic and interaction model, structuring fragmented social, review and news signals into evidence users could compare and act on. Rather than presenting unexplained AI conclusions, the product connects generated insights to the underlying signals that support them through genAI content workflow. Across these products, Yang’s decisions shape not only how individual screens appear, but how customer information enters the system, how AI interprets that information, and how business users evaluate the resulting recommendations.

Her role has also extended from product design into the operational system behind AtlasNova.AI’s client delivery. Yang mapped a largely manual marketing process into repeatable stages spanning brand and competitor research, strategy, content planning, genAI asset production,, while developing structured briefs that define content format, subject, communication angle and visual direction before generation begins. These workflows have been used to support client strategies, content calendars, captions and AI-generated assets, creating a consistent structure between strategy, generation and human review. Taken together,Yang’s work has helped define how AtlasNova.AI turns emerging AI capabilities into products and services that can be repeatedly delivered to customers, giving her a consequential role in both the company’s product development and its commercial operations.

A critical design role beyond generative AI

The same pattern appears in Yang’s enterprise work. At Cummins, she served as the primary designer for a Guidanz calibration-download workflow used in vehicle diagnostics. The previous process required users to download calibration files individually; Yang redesigned the workflow so multiple files could be selected and downloaded together, with project estimates indicating approximately 60 percent time savings for multi-file downloads. Although the project did not center on generative AI, it reflected the same role Yang has played across her work: restructuring complex technical systems around the people responsible for using them.

Her work has also received recognition across AI and product design. Her OpusClip work received Platinum recognition in the 2024 MUSE Design Awards in the Conceptual Design – Technology category, while her pediatric respiratory-therapy concept Breezy received a 2025 Red Dot Award: Design Concept and was also recognized by the iF DESIGN AWARD in 2026. Across generative video, healthcare, GenAI technology, enterprise diagnostics and HCI research, Yang repeatedly operates at the point where technical capability becomes a usable product. Her research informs how she understands computational systems, while her product leadership shapes how those systems are translated into workflows people can direct, evaluate and use in real-world settings. As AI companies increasingly compete not only on model capability but on whether people can successfully use those capabilities, that role is becoming more consequential.

Highlights

Technical Human-Computer Interaction Foundation

Yang’s HCI research spans gesture recognition, visual tracking and generative interface design, giving her a technical foundation for understanding how computational systems interpret human input and produce AI-generated outputs. She has carried that understanding into commercial AI products, where technical capabilities must operate within real business constraints.

Product Design Leadership

At AtlasNova.AI, Yang has led product definition, workflow architecture and interaction design across AI Content Studio, Competitor Insights and onboarding, helping move AI Content Studio from early development into commercial partner deployment. Her work also extends into the operational systems behind client delivery. At Cummins, she served as the primary designer for a calibration workflow redesign estimated to reduce multi-file download time by approximately 60 percent.

From Technical Capability to Real-World Use

Yang’s role sits at the intersection of technology, product design and commercial application. Rather than designing only the interface around an existing capability, she helps determine how AI systems receive context, how users review and act on their outputs, and how emerging technical capabilities become repeatable products and workflows. Across research, enterprise software and deployed AI products, this position has made her a key contributor in translating technical possibilities into systems that businesses can use.
