NEW YORK.- PULSE New York will run concurrently with The Armory Show from February 22 through 25, 2007, taking place at the 69th Regiment Armory Building located at East 26th Street and Lexington Avenue. The New York fair follows the incredible success and feedback that PULSE Miami received in December, having been praised for its increased diversity, ambitious installations and manageable size.

In its second year, PULSE New York will feature high-quality works from 63 established and emerging galleries from 15 countries, including additions from Israel, China and Korea. The fair will also feature site specific installations by Jason Hackenwerth, Satch Hoyt and by PULSE MIAMI’s PULSE PRIZE winner Travis Somerville. Several exhibitors from previous PULSE fairs have been invited to participate in New York, including Mark Moore Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), moniquemeloche (Chicago, IL), P.P.O.W. (New York, NY), Galerie Volker Diehl (Berlin, Germany), and Rena Bransten Gallery (San Francisco, CA), while new, international galleries will also be joining PULSE in New York, including Keith Talent Gallery (London, England), Noga Gallery of Contemporary Art (Tel Aviv, Israel), and Galerie Tanit (Munich, Germany). Thirteen of the exhibiting galleries were chosen through an open application and selection process by the PULSE committee members to exhibit in the “IMPULSE” section.

PULSE New York returns after the record-breaking sales and near-double attendance that PULSE Miami had in December 2006, which drew close to 12,000 attendees, including major collectors and art patrons. Artinfo.com praised PULSE’s second appearance in Miami, stating, “The auspicious debut of PULSE Miami last year quickly pushed it into the top tier of must-see fairs, and its second outing only added to its favored status.” The Wall Street Journal focused on the quality of works at PULSE compared to other fairs, “You had only to go to the independent PULSE art fair, near the Design District, to get a shock of pleasure at wonderful work by established but noncelebrity artists”. In addition, The Baer Faxt, the art-world newsletter, reported that PULSE Miami had been voted by its readers as having tied with Art Basel Miami Beach as the best fair for 2006, an extraordinary accomplishment for a still relatively new endeavor in the art market growing landscape.

Based on exhibitor reports, final sales at PULSE Miami reached over $9 million. Once again, many exhibitors explained that they had as much success at PULSE as at more established fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach or Frieze, and PULSE Director Helen Allen anticipates comparable success for the second year of the fair in New York.

“After the positive feedback we received from collectors and exhibitors about the increasing success of PULSE Miami, we feel confident that our second fair in New York will bring equal success and accolades.”

The 2006-2007 PULSE Invitational Committee is comprised of an international roster of curators, gallerists, and dealers, including Dennis Christie (DCKT Contemporary, New York, NY), Volker Diehl (Galerie Volker Diehl, Berlin, Germany), Carlos Durán (Galería Senda, Barcelona, Spain), Robert Mann (Robert Mann Gallery, New York, NY), Monique Meloche (moniquemeloche, Chicago, IL), Mark Moore (Mark Moore Gallery, Santa Monica, CA), Laura Solomon (Art Advisor), and Gwénolée Zürcher (Galerie Zürcher, Paris, France).
