PHILADELPHIA, PA.- The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) is pleased to present Selections from the Permanent Collection: Multiples, part of a series featuring a broad range of significant works produced in collaboration with FWM through its renowned Artists-in-Residence program. This exhibition focuses on FWM Artist Multiples and includes work by internationally recognized artists Louise Bourgeois, Ann Hamilton, Mona Hatoum, Kiki Smith, and others. Also on view for the first time are new Multiples by Francesco Simeti, Judith Schaechter, and Richard Taransky. The exhibition runs through February 2007 in the 5th floor gallery.
Multiples and special limited edition works have always been an important aspect of FWM's programs. Over the years, artists-in-residence have worked in collaboration with FWM staff to create an exciting and innovative array of works in a range of media. Several new Multiples are included in this exhibition: Richard Taransky's silk screened tablecloth Civil Settlement (2006), Judith Schaechter's repeat print yardage, Hexamok (2006) and Untitled (2006), and wallpaper by Francesco Simeti (2006). Also on view, Louise Bourgeois' Pregnant Woman (2002), Ann Hamilton's hair collar, Untitled (1993), Mona Hatoum's Untitled (Brain) (1999), Kiki Smith's Singing Siren (2003), and William Wegman's silk scarves, Forest (2000) and Back and Beyond (2000) along with other Artist Multiples by Barbara Bloom, Edgar Heap of Birds, Howard Hodgkin, Isaac Julien, Ernesto Neto, and Iran do Espirito Santo.
