LIMERICK CITY .- EVA announced the programme and opening events for the 41st EVA International—Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art.
The 41st EVA International features a “Guest Programme” curated by Eszter Szakcs in collaboration with the EVA team, including a number of new commissions and presentations by Irish and international artists. Titled It Takes a Village, the programme borrows from the proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” to focus on ideas of collaborative partnership, social justice and historical repair. Featured artists include Noor Abuarafeh, Reza Afisina, Marwa Arsanios, Ana Bravo- Prez, Ruth Clinton and Niamh Moriarty, Family Connection (Glenda Martinus, Rudsel Martinus, Jrgen Gario, and Quinsy Gario), damdam (a collective of collectives), Ciarn Dochartaigh, Yazan Khalili, Anik Lornt, Naeem Mohaiemen, Eoghan Ryan, and Eimear Walshe. Programme partnerships include OFF-Biennale Budapest (Gypsy Criminals and Gideon Horvth) and Ormston House, Limerick (Bodh Orm Anocht, feat. Ciarn Dochartaigh, Laura Ni Fhlaibhn, Sen Hannan, and Kiera O’Toole).
This will be presented alongside a series of EVA Platform Commissions that build upon ideas and definitions of access, selected by Iarlaith N Fheorais and Roy Claire Potter. Featured artists include ireann and I (Joselle Ntumba and Beulah Ezeugo), Bridget O’Gorman, Colm Keady-Tabbal, Olivia Normile, and Lynn Wolf (in partnership with El Reid Buckley and Dyke Nite).
Presented across diverse venues in Limerick city, and through a number of local and international partnerships—from fishmongers, to community networks, to other biennial organisations—the 41st EVA International invites thinking, from many different perspectives, about the ways in which we might contribute to a more shared and equitable future.
A programme of talks, performances, and live events will take place over the opening weekend. This includes artists’ talks by participating artists, and performances by Lynn Wolf, Ana Bravo-Prez, Noor Abuarafeh, and Eimear Walshe.
The official opening will be followed by an afterparty in collaboration with DYKE NITE x The Breeding Room, on August 29, 2025 (Dolan’s, Limerick, Ireland; doors from 9pm). Limited capacity. Pre-booking essential.
