MADRID.- Recognized as one of the most important Brazilian painters of the second half of the 20th century, Koch has gained increasing prominence in both national and international exhibitions.
Working primarily with egg tempera, the artist devoted meticulous attention to drawing, composition, and color choices, creating paintings deeply influenced by Constructivism. In her work, objects, landscapes, and everyday scenes are rendered with delicacy, emphasizing the careful craft of painting over symbolic or allegorical representations. Her introspective nature, often detached from the aesthetic and thematic trends of her time, lends her work a unique and captivating character.
A book celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Eleonore Koch's birth will be published by Almeida & Dale and Traves韆 Cuatro in 2026. Organized by curator and professor Fernanda Pitta, the publication features texts by Ana Prata, Cristiano Raimondi, Daniel Donato, Ludimila Fonseca, and Pia Gotschaller.
The work of Lore Koch was featured in the 34th S鉶 Paulo Biennial (2021) and she was also invited to the 1959 and 1967 editions. Recently, she was the subject of solo exhibitions at MAC USP, S鉶 Paulo (2024); Traves韆 Cuatro CDMX, Mexico curated by Cristiano Raimondi (2023); MAR, Rio de Janeiro (2022); Fundaci髇 Fernando de Castro, Madrid, Spain organized by Traves韆 Cuatro and curated by Cristiano Raimondi (2022); Modern Art in London and Mendes Wood DM New York curated by Kiki Mazzucchelli (2020).
Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Museo Madre, Naples, Italy, curated by Cristiano Raimondi (2024) and Pinacoteca de S鉶 Paulo, Brazil (2018).
Her work is part of the permanent collections of Tate Modern, London, UK; MAC USP, S鉶 Paulo; Pinacoteca de S鉶 Paulo and MAM S鉶 Paulo.
