MILAN.- The Mexican brand Balmaceda Studio makes its debut at Milan Design Week with a special installation, unveiling Jardines, its latest creations for the first time in Europe. The Jardines collection pays homage to the visionary legacy of Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, reinterpreting his organic forms, vibrant color palettes, and seamless fusion of nature and design. Jardines will unfold through a series of evocative elementsrugs, embroideries, glass, and stoolscreating a sensory landscape that invites exploration.
Through a sophisticated textile language, Jardines translates the metaphor of the garden into tactile designs, creating a harmonious dialogue between nature and contemporary interior design. The collection explores the connection between craftsmanship and innovation, with rugs enriched by thread and chaquira embroidery that evoke exotic vegetal forms, celebrating the unpredictable beauty of the natural world. Each piece is a tribute to artisanal mastery, where refined textures and vibrant hues transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The collection incorporates blown glass vases that evoke the delicacy of wild flowers and plants. Each piece, with organic shapes and vivid colors, captures the essence of nature in motion. Transforming glass into living sculptures that celebrate the connection between art and the natural environment.
Founded by José María Balmaceda in 2017, Balmaceda Studio was born from the desire to rethink rugs as a central element in the construction of spaces. Beyond their decorative function, each piece is an exploration of forms, textures, and narratives that bridge artisanal tradition with a contemporary design vision. Drawing inspiration from ancient techniques in India and Nepal, the studio works closely with weavers and artisans to transform manual processes into textile compositions that engage with architecture, landscape, and memory. Its collections do not follow trends but rather stem from ongoing research into materials, color, and structure. With a presence at fairs such as ZONA Maco and exhibitions in Paris, Balmaceda Studio has positioned itself within the collectible design landscape, becoming part of the offerings of international galleries such as The Future Perfect (USA), Monologue (UK), and Freeman Gallery (Australia). Currently, the studio is expanding its practice into interior and object design, maintaining its commitment to experimentation and craftsmanship as the core pillars of its vision.
