NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s will present its upcoming Design and Tiffany live sales, taking place on 11 December at Christie’s New York.

The Design Auction

Showcasing over 160 lots, Design explores 180 years of historical design, from early innovators like Josef Hoffmann and William Hunt Diederich to the culture-defining Art Deco works of Armand-Albert Rateau, Jean-Michel Frank, and Gaston Suisse. Featured highlights include rare functional design by Alberto and Diego Giacometti including important commissions, as well as mid-century French masters such as Jean Royère, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, and Georges Jouve, alongside late 20th-century craft by George Nakashima, Harry Bertoia, José Zanine Caldas, and Frank Gehry. François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne are represented by a unique ‘Williamsburg’ commission and celebrated bestiary in the ‘Chouette Perchée’, amongst more. The auction also presents works from the Viennese Secessionists, such as Leopold Forstner, to contemporary luminaries Marc Newson, The Haas Brothers, Ingrid Donat, and Hervé Van Der Straeten.

• Diego Giacometti’s Rare Dining Table for Marc Barbezat, Paris, circa 1967-1969 (Estimate: $1,000,000–1,500,000)

• Jean-Michel Frank’s Rare Settee, circa 1929 (Estimate: $250,000–350,000)

• Gaston Suisse’s ‘Skyline’ Four-Panel Floor Screen, circa 1925 (Estimate: $150,000–200,000)

Notable Collections:

• Property from an Important Japanese Collection, highlighted by George Nakashima’s ‘Minguren II’ Coffee Table, 1987 (Estimate: $70,000–100,000), originally created for Sakura Seisakusho in Takamatsu.

• Property Sold to Benefit Henry Street Settlement, New York, featuring two works by The Haas Brothers: ‘Hex Vagina Table’, 2014 (Estimate: $50,000–70,000) and ‘Sidewinder’, 2014 (Estimate: $15,000–20,000). Proceeds will support Henry Street Settlement’s fundraising efforts.

• Property from an Important American Collection, showcasing an interior by Brian Murphy Inc., with rare Hervé Van Der Straeten designs and more.

The Tiffany Auction

This dedicated sale celebrates Tiffany Studios and the glass-making legacy of Louis Comfort Tiffany and his New York workshops. The collection highlights an array of works Tiffany Studios is renowned for, including exceptional windows, lighting, mosaics, Favrile glass, and metalwork.

Top Highlights:

• Landscape Window with Dogwood Tree and Birds, circa 1917 (Estimate: $600,000–800,000), from a private West Coast collection.

• Rare ’Pony Begonia’ Table Lamp, circa 1910 (Estimate: $70,000–100,000), from a private collection at Villa Waldbühl, Switzerland—an interior originally designed by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott and passed through generations since its original purchase from Tiffany Studios.

• Impressive ‘Poppy’ Floor Lamp, circa 1910 (Estimate: $400,000-600,000), property from a Distinguished Collection
