NEW YORK, NY.- Christies will present its upcoming Design and Tiffany live sales, taking place on 11 December at Christies New York.
The Design Auction
Showcasing over 160 lots, Design explores 180 years of historical design, from early innovators like Josef Hoffmann and William Hunt Diederich to the culture-defining Art Deco works of Armand-Albert Rateau, Jean-Michel Frank, and Gaston Suisse. Featured highlights include rare functional design by Alberto and Diego Giacometti including important commissions, as well as mid-century French masters such as Jean Royère, Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, and Georges Jouve, alongside late 20th-century craft by George Nakashima, Harry Bertoia, José Zanine Caldas, and Frank Gehry. François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne are represented by a unique Williamsburg commission and celebrated bestiary in the Chouette Perchée, amongst more. The auction also presents works from the Viennese Secessionists, such as Leopold Forstner, to contemporary luminaries Marc Newson, The Haas Brothers, Ingrid Donat, and Hervé Van Der Straeten.
