Installation view of works by Nicole Eisenman, Rachel Harrison, Ester Partegàs,
and Fred Tomaselli, combined by gallery visitors at Purdue University Galleries,
West Lafayette, Indiana, 2005.

CINCINNATI.- The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, presents The Paper Sculpture Show, on view through November 05, 2006. The Paper Sculpture Show brings the artist and visitor together by providing a hands-on art making experience. This interactive exhibition is composed of works by 29 artists, drawn on flat sheets of paper and stacked in the gallery space. The visitor chooses a project, then takes the printed sheet(s) of paper and cuts out the components and assembles them into a three-dimensional sculpture. The Paper Sculpture Show resonates with early art historical movements such as the Fluxus mail art and the Surrealists "Exquisite Corpse" games of collaborative drawing. The Paper Sculpture Show invites visitors to reconsider the relationship between two-dimensional images and three dimensional sculptural objects, originality, mass production and the handmade as they become the artists in this interactive exhibition.

Works by: Janine Antoni, The Art Guys, David Brody, Luca Buvoli, Francis Cape & Liza Phillips, Seong Chun, Minerva Cuevas, E.V. Day, Nicole Eisenman, Spencer Finch, Charles Goldman, Rachel Harrison, Stephen Hendee, Patrick Killoran, Glenn Ligon, Cildo Meireles, Helen Mirra, Aric Obrosey, Ester Partegs, Paul Ramirez Jonas, Akiko Sakaizumi, David Shrigley, Eve Sussman, Sarah Sze, Fred Tomaselli, Pablo Vargas-Lugo, Chris Ware, Olav Westphalen and Allan Wexler.

This exhibition is organized by Independent Curators International with curators Mary Ceruti, Matt Freedman and Sina Najafi. Installation sponsor: Lynne Meyers Gordon.
