GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY will present a specially curated single-owner auction of over 200 Hermes silk scarves, most in their original boxes, from the personal collection of World War II legend Rosalind P. Walter, also known as the original “Rosie the Riveter” on Saturday, June 8th at 11am. This eclectic collection of vintage designer scarves includes Hermes, Gucci, Chanel, and more. Previews are online only.

Trailblazer “Rosie the Riveter” was a cultural icon in the United States, representing the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II. She also served as the star of a campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for defense industries during the war and became the subject and title of a Hollywood film in 1944.

In later years, Rosalind P. Walter was a philanthropist who was best known for her late 20th and early 21st century support for public television programming across the United States. She passed away in New York in 2020.

Highlights from her collection include a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "Poste et Cavalerie" with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the late 80's or 90's. Titled "Poste et Cavalerie" decorated with various military insignia and badges. It was Designed by Joachim Metz and first released in 1987. In Very fine condition with some light wrinkling. Comes in an original box packing paper, has been kept in a collection for over 25+years. Provenance: From The Estate of Rosalind P. Walter also known as Rosie The Riveter. Estimate $200-$300, a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "Puzzle" with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the late 80's or 90's. Titled "Puzzle" and is decorated with a design of a horse flower and carriage in a puzzle format. It was Designed by Joachim Metz and released in 2000. In Fine Condition with wrinkling. Comes with an original box and packing paper, has been kept in a collection for over 25+years. Estimate $200-$300, a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "Carpe Diem" with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the late 80's or 90's. Titled "Carpe Diem" Seize the day, and is decorated with a Roman Calendar design with a Smiling Sun Moon and stars with golden marble border. It was Designed by Joachim Metz and released in 1994. In Very fine condition with small stain. Comes with an original box and packing paper, has been kept in a collection for over 25+years. Estimate $200-$300 and a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "La Prairie" with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the late 80's or 90's. Titled "La Prairie" and is decorated with a field of various plants flowers and insects from a prairie. It was Designed by Antoine De Jacquelot and first released in 1994. In Like New Condition. Comes with an original box and packing paper, has been kept in a collection for over 25+years. Estimate $200-$300.

Titled "Pierres d'Orient et d'Occident" and is decorated with an inlaid precious stone design of birds and flowers with lavender type marble border. It was Designed by Zoe Pauwels and first released in 1998. In Like New Condition tag is loose. Comes with an original box and packing papers, has been kept in a collection for over 25+years.Estimate $200-$300, a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "Grand Manege" with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the later 80's or 90's. Titled "Grand Manege" and is decorated with a display of equestrian ornamental horse hardware from competitions. It was Designed by Henri d'Origny and first released in 1990. In Like New Condition. Estimate $200-$300 and a Vintage Hermes Paris Silk Scarf "Casques et plumets" new with tags ,with box, This is a classic 90cm Carre Hermes Silk Scarf made in Paris dating from the later 80's or 90's. Titled "Casques et plumets" and is decorated with a 4 large ornamental helmets with a procession of soldiers circling the center. It was Designed by Julie Abadie and first released in 1989.
