Balance by Kiyoshi Yasuda at Seventeen Gallery |

LONDON, ENGLAND.- Seventeen Gallery will present Balance, an installation by Kiyoshi Yasuda, on August 23-26, 2006. Kiyoshi Yasuda wants to make the world a better place. Upon entering the gallery space you encounter a cluster of helium filled balloons, hovering in the center of the room. Suspended beneath each balloon is a scale, acting as a weight, keeping it from ascending to the ceiling, which is covered with clusters of pins.
A sharp bang and clatter reveals that the balloons too, have pins attached to their exteriors, and from time to time they puncture each other and the scales crash to the floor.
Kiyoshi approaches you and offers you a yellow balloon of your own. Inside your balloon you can make out shapes, possibly in paper or fabric. If you let your own balloon rise up to the ceiling to burst, you will see a message for you flutter to the floor.
The latest installation by Japanese artist Kiyoshi Yasuda, is intended to make the world a better place.
Yasudas practice encompasses street interventions, stickering, performance and installation. Yasuda was born Japan in 1979 and is self-taught having previously studied economics.
