ALAMEDA, CA.- Michaan’s Auctions April Gallery Auction, held on Friday, April 19th realized a strong sell-through rate as Michaan’s Auctions orchestrated another successful sale for its consigners. The sale was headlined by the Jewelry Department, as its modernist jewelry suite and selections of diamond, gold, and platinum pieces inspired intense action from bidders, while several items from the Furniture and Decorations Department also achieved significant prices.

The Jewelry Department was led by a Modernist Henri Leighton 14k Yellow Gold Jewelry Suite a beautiful collection of pieces that reached $9,750 after sustained interest by absentee bidders throughout the week. The department continued its strong showing with the Diamond, 18k White Gold Tennis Bracelet, which reached $5,525, and a Diamond, Platinum Ring, which also achieved $5,525. Bringing up the end of the section was an 18k Yellow Gold Necklace that rose to a final price of $4,875 driven by multiple absentee bids and a Pair of Matching 24k Yellow Gold Bracelets which culminated at $4,550.

Collectibles, furniture, and decorative items were highly successful at Michaan’s Auctions April Gallery, achieving successful prices for our consigners. Leading the way was a Vintage Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone, which exceeded generous estimates to sell for $6,175. Another successful lot was the Yamaha DGB1 Mahogany Baby Grand Piano, a beautifully preserved piece in classic style, selling for $5,200. An International Rhapsody Pattern Sterling Flatware Set reached $4,550 and a Victorian Walnut Articulated Mannequin achieved $2,600. Finally, a Steuben Crystal and Gold Partridge in a Pear Tree achieved $2,600, a James Houston for Steuben Crystal Unicorn with Gold Horn reached $1,430, and the sale of an Ebonized Boulle Vargueno was finalized at $1,950.

The Fine Art Department was headlined by a notable work from the 19th-century French landscape painter, Leon Joubert, View of Vetheuil by River, oil as aggressive amongst online bidders raised its final price to $3,250. A mixed media work by French landscape painter Yolande Ardissone was also on offer, and Yolande Ardissone, Boat in Harbor, impasto oil on canvas was a particularly sought-after lot that reached
$2,925, while a work by the contemporary Marseille-based artist Christian Jequel,

Harvest Scene, oil, exceeded expectations to reach $1,170. Finally, two etchings by Gene Kloss exceeded estimates as Gene Kloss, Road to Ranchos de Taos, etching, inspired a rush of bids culminating at $1,105, while Gene Kloss, "Tranquility of Winter," etching achieved $1,040, highlighting the enduring appeal of the painter of Taos, New Mexico landscapes and culture.

The Fashion Department excelled, headlined by multiple pieces from the esteemed French fashion house Louis Vuitton. A lot of Louis Vuitton Damier Azur Bags and Wallets inspired intense interest from multiple bidders, which eventually drove the price to $2,340, while a collection of Louis Vuitton Bags, Wallets, and Scarves sold for
$2,210. Later in the sale, the Louis Vuitton Artsy MM Beige Monogram Leather Bag, attracted significant attention from online and in-person bidding, finally reaching $1,430.

The Asian Art Department had another strong sale, leading with a Large Japanese Satsuma Figural Baluster Vase which garnered bids up to $2,600. Finally, the Stamps, Coins, and Ephemera Department is happy to announce the sale of a US 1987 American Eagle $50.00 One Ounce Gold Coin Proof, which drew competing absentee bids that drove the price to $2,600.
