TULSA.- The Philbrook Museum of Art presents the exhibit Robert Weingarten 6:30 a.m. These large-scale, luminous photographs of Malibu by contemporary American photographer Robert Weingarten focus on changing light.

Motivated by Alfred Stieglitz's famous dictum that no photographer should travel anywhere to find a picture if he cannot first find one close to home, the 6:30 a.m. series began when Weingarten decided to photograph the same place the same time over the course of a year.

Setting up his camera in his Malibu home overlooking Santa Monica Bay, he selected a location that offered a view of sky and ocean, separated by a thin strip of land (showing El Segundo Beach and Los Angeles International Airport). Never moving the camera, Weingarten photographed at precisely 6:30 a.m. over the span of a year.

Weingarten said, The depth of the color is either something you cant see or just dont concentrate hard enough to see in the sky and water. It is that intensity that the film transparency used by Weingarten picks up.

The recent outdoor exhibition of 6:30 a.m. at the George Eastman House: International Museum of Photography and Film inspired Philbrook's installation in its Westby Courtyard.
