BOSTON, MASS.- Bonhams Skinner will present four online sales in July which will begin with European Décor & Design split into two parts and highlighted by a geometric and floral gradated enamel Fabergé cigarette case. Then Japanese Art will feature a wide and varied scope of Japanese art forms from the tiny and exquisite wearable art of a wooden netsuke to full-sized scenery depicted on multi-panel folding screens. Finally, Fine Carpets & Rare Textiles will present a wide array of collectible rugs and textiles including many of the most interesting Central Asian rugs from the Jim Dixon collection.

European Décor & Design
Part I: July 8 - 18
Part II: July 9 - 19


European Décor & Design will be presented online in two parts, July 8 – 18 and July 9 – 19, and will consist of a wide variety of English, French Provincial and Portuguese furniture, much from a Dallas area matriarch, as well as decorative arts featuring a selection of large size bronzes, several Russian icons, numerous framed groups of prints, and a variety of lamp bases, tapestries, mirrors, and wall sconces. Of particular note is a Fabergé cigarette case, estimated at $30,000 – 40,000, decorated with geometric and floral gradated enamel and a hinged cover with a rendering of the Russian artist Victor Vasnetsov's 1889 painting, Ivan Tsarevich Riding the Grey Wolf.

Additionally, the sales will feature a fine selection of Chinese porcelains from the Yongzheng, Kangxi and Qianlong periods as well as Chinese export porcelain and silver including a pair of Rose Canton decorated floor jars, estimated at $2,000 – 4,000, and an impressive realistic silver model of a junk, estimated at $2,500 – 3,500.

Japanese Art: Netsuke to Byoba
July 10 - 20


Japanese Art: Netsuke to Byoba will present from July 10 – 20 a curated selection of material spanning a wide and varied scope of Japanese art forms. Of particular note, the sale will present various works from the Edo period, recognized as one of the richest eras in the history of Japanese art, including eight remarkable folding screens embellished with mythological themes and the beauty of the natural world in lush gold and saturated colors.

An additional highlight is a private collection of netsuke depicting the Japanese zodiac animals. A recumbent ox bearing a seal of Masanao of Tokyo, estimated at $8,000 - 12,000, and a glass-eyed dog by Sari of Iwashiro, estimated at $2,500 – 3,500, are superb examples of this intricate and expressive art form.

Fine Carpets & Rare Textiles
July 22 – August 1


From July 22 to August 1, Fine Carpets and Rare Textiles will feature a wide array of collectible rugs and textiles including Turkoman and Baluch as well as many of the most interesting Central Asian rugs from the Jim Dixon collection, one of the great carpet collectors. Additionally, the sale will offer a wide array of antique room-sized rugs, a wonderful selection of antique rugs from the Caucasus, and many rare and excellent pieces from Persia and Anatolia. Also included is a fascinating selection of antique textiles with pieces from the Balkans, Anatolia, India, China, Japan, India, and Indonesia as well as a selection of antique, modernist Kimono and Haori in great condition.
