NEW YORK, NY.- The solo exhibition by Turkish artist, Fırat Neziroğlu Thinking of You in the C24 Atrium opened this past May 18th, and will be on view through July 14th, 2023.

Celebrated throughout Turkey and Europe for his unique takes on a traditional practice, this will be the first time his work has been exhibited in the US. Utilizing hand-spun, custom-dyed wool, Fırat Neziroğlu reinterprets the centuries-old art form of Kilim rug making with contemporary images and content.

With a patented technique that allows for loosely hanging and three-dimensional components, he creates portraits of his closest friends, beautiful, intimate celebrations of life and love. Working from memory, without reference drawings, he incorporates bold colors and unlikely subjects into striking, one-of-a-kind, textured compositions.

As we continue to champion an international collection of artists who explore questions of identity through a broader cultural and historical lens, we are excited to share this complex and nuanced work.

C24 Gallery is an independent, contemporary art gallery located in Chelsea, New York, founded in 2011 by Emre and Maide Kurttepeli, Mel Dogan, and Asli Soyak. Over the last four years, under the leadership of Director and Curator David C. Terry, we’ve refined our roster of artists to reflect the gender parity and international, multicultural diversity we recognize in the art world. But mostly, we exhibit work that people fall in love with, work that they are passionate about adding to their collections.

Our artists work in a variety of mediums, including painting, ceramics, photography, fiber art, video and sculpture. They share a common exploration of personal and cultural identity and its relationship to history and ongoing cultural and environmental changes. Their narratives are compelling and thought-provoking and their work is complex and nuanced. From museum collections and public installations to international exhibitions, our artists’ work is shown and appreciated across the globe.
