AMSTERDAM.- Wanrooij Gallery in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is now presenting the first solo exhibition by the 21-year-old Dutch creator RAIDER since 11 May until 26 August 2023. The exhibition 'First Contact' shows a wide and colourful selection of sculptures, silkscreen prints, digital artworks, neon designs, and wall objects. RAIDER transformed the two floors of the gallery into an exciting art experience, introducing the character Scoop.

RAIDER represents a new, young generation of contemporary artists. With a great passion for art, his iconic sculptures of the fictional character Scoop have gained attention from gallery owners and art collectors around the world since 2020. The creator experiments with all available techniques and materials in a traditional way.

The new and sparkling work of RAIDER has its own unique signature. It is fresh, pure, and colourful. For the design of the figure Scoop, spheres are used as primal elements, referring to the science of discovering extraterrestrial life forms. The storyteller draws inspiration from film, animation, music, and travel.

Scoop is from another planet and is now discovering our world and its inhabitants. Scoop is friendly, curious, and reflects on human behaviour with a childlike innocence. The Scoop sculptures are made of resin, and are available as Limited Editions in a variety of colours and sizes, from small (10 cm) to monumental (180 cm). Bronze is also used by the creator. Each sculpture is entirely handcrafted and painted.

RAIDER (2002) lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied Creative Design in Utrecht. The creator’s autonomous work has been presented at art fairs such as Art Miami, Art Karlsruhe, KunstRAI in Amsterdam, and Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam, London, and New York. A Scoop sculpture is included in the collection of MOYA - Museum of Young Art. Following a pop-up store presentation during the Milan Design Week 2023, his first solo exhibition in the Netherlands is scheduled at Wanrooij Gallery.

Wanrooij Gallery in Amsterdam is internationally renowned for its innovative, challenging and inspiring art with character. The gallery, founded in 2005, provides a prominent stage for emerging and acclaimed artists, and has a key focus on new media art. It is a place to explore and experience contemporary art in all its facets. In that perspective, the gallery constantly seeks new challenges by pushing boundaries of the established art world. Wanrooij Gallery has strong connections with art networks, galleries, auctioneers, and artists around the world.
