RR Auction announced its latest auction event, The Military, and the Cold War. The auction Features a stunning collection of historical artifacts, offering a unique opportunity to acquire rare and significant items from national and global history.
One of the most exciting pieces in the collection is a John F. Kennedy handwritten statement on the United Nations. The statement, written circa February 1949 on Congress of the United States, House of Representatives letterhead, showcases Kennedy's early advocacy for peace through strength and offers insight into his views on the UN and the Cold War.
Another item of great interest is the Soviet Union Fialka cipher machine. This electromechanical device was a primary cipher machine for all Warsaw Pact countries and Cuba and was in use until the 1990s. With very few Fialka machines remaining, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Cold War code-making history.
The GRiD Compass 1101 military computer is another standout item. With its rugged magnesium alloy case, folding screen, built-in keyboard, and high-performance components, this computer was a groundbreaking device that helped shape the modern laptop and was a popular choice among government agencies and space organizations.
Other notable items include an original Treaty of Versailles pamphlet with signatures from prominent figures involved in the treaty negotiations, a signed edition of Winston Churchill's The Second World War, and a notebook and signed check from ballplayer-turned-spy Moe Berg that provides a fascinating glimpse into his interests and experiences beyond the baseball field.
The Military and the Cold War auction began on April 17 and will conclude on May 18.
