Stephen Hawking TLS on Black-Body Radiation and Geodesic Incompleteness. Min Bid: $5,000 (0 bids) Estimate: $50,000+.

BOSTON, MASS.- RR Auction's May Fine Autographs and Artifacts auction presents a specially curated selection of major figures in science and technology—a remarkable variety of handwritten manuscripts, autograph letters, and signed photos are featured in the sale.

Highlights include Albert Einstein's manuscript on "The Essence of the Theory of Relativity," an article published in English within volume XVI of 'The American Peoples Encyclopedia' in 1948. The six-page unsigned handwritten manuscript by Einstein, circa 1947-48. After a general introduction, Einstein discusses the "Special Theory of Relativity" and "General Theory of Relativity," writing several equations and sketching a small graph. A significant scientific manuscript by Einstein discussing the history, meaning, and influence of his theory of relativity. This manuscript provides insight into one of the most important scientific discoveries of the 20th century. (Estimate: $350,000+)

A scientific letter by Stephen Hawking. In the letter, Hawking encloses an improved version of the paper and discusses the calculations of the convergence condition. The most intriguing part of the letter, however, is Hawking's reference to a talk by Stan Deer, in which he outlined his proof that mass is positive definite. Hawking claims that a famous theorem of Witten's has been misapplied in the literature and suggests that there are counter examples to this in finite dimensions, "not to speak of the infinite dimensions case." A marvelous letter by the celebrated theoretical physicist, rife with scientific content. (Estimate: $50,000+)

Several significant Charles Darwin autographs, including an unusual handwritten letter by Charles Darwin, and an autograph tipped into his grandfather's biography—once the property of Virginia Woolf. ($30,000+) A rare French correspondence by Nikola Tesla apologizing for an unpaid debt. ($10,000+) Along with a pristine 1976 Apple Computer check signed by Steve Jobs (Estimate: $25,000+) and a number of Elon Musk items.

Other top lots in the auction are Marilyn Monroe's 1958 driver's license, a fully signed Led Zeppelin album, important Houdini memorabilia, and rare presidential autographs.

The Fine Autographs and Artifacts auction Featuring Science and Tech by RR Auction began on April 17 and will conclude on May 10. More Details can be found online at www.rrauction.com
