Jing Dong is a software engineer and media artist currently residing in Los Angeles, California. She is also the co-founder of the Fem ArtTech Lab. Jing earned her MFA in Art and Technology/Integrated Media from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Her artistic practice includes interactive installations, sound-visual experiences, software systems, and AI art. Recently, she has been exploring computational aesthetics, posthumanism, and interaction innovation. She has participated in various exhibitions, including Ars Electronica, re: connections, JACCC Release: Heard in LA Exhibition, Digital Future, and Coaxialarts Art + Technology.

Jing Dong is fascinated by how technology can secretly shape our environment, concepts, and behavior. Jing believes that technology is often dominant and cold, which is why artists must strike a thoughtful and intentional balance between invasive technological innovations and the fight for human dignity, especially for marginalized groups who suffer from inequality, isolation, and injustice. Philosopher Heidegger reminds artists working in the technology industry that "art holds power that could save humans from the danger of being consumed by technology." Jing is deeply immersed in this dual framework, finding hope in art's potential to offer a therapeutic remedy to technology's lifeless, narrow, and confining trajectory.
