KEARNEY, NE.- Timed to align with the recent transformation of the Museum, the new visual identity is designed by Daake Design in Omaha, Nebraska. According to Greg Drake, Principal and Creative Director, “We are grateful to have collaborated with many dedicated and passionate MONA stakeholders to create this new brand identity. The new logo is a dramatic change that evokes curiosity, innovation, and excitement. The logomark forms all four letters of MONA through a colorful, dynamic, analogous color palette. We feel the result is an enduring and suitable symbol that will serve the organization for decades."

MONA is currently undergoing a significant expansion and renewal. In November 2020, the Museum closed for construction of a 23,000 square foot addition, as well as a restoration and renovation of its historic building. Projected to re-open in 2024, the reimagined Museum will embody the creative personality of the institution. The rebrand allows the museum to present itself to the public as a fresh and exciting destination, while marking another major milestone in the evolution of MONA.

“Our new visual identity, which is rooted in our history but ready for our future represents us well as we enter this exciting new chapter,” said executive director Nicole Herden. “It’s dynamic and expressive, reflecting who we are and where we’re going.”

Opened in 1986, The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) houses the official art collection of the state of Nebraska. MONA’s permanent collection numbers nearly 6,000 works by artists of regional, national, and international acclaim. MONA celebrates the history of Nebraska’s visual art for diverse audiences. It collects, preserves, researches, exhibits, and interprets the work of artists who were born, lived, trained, or worked in Nebraska or who created artworks that reflect the state’s culture. MONA endeavors to be the cultural center for Nebraska art and artists by providing quality exhibitions and programs, expanding its collection and facilities, and preserving its historic building.
