Football is considered a beautiful game, and many consider it a
#n art form. However, the two worlds can sometimes collide, especially with every second of the game being filmed and photographed it is bound to happen more than you think. Like stumbling across new
betting sites UK, this list will open up your eyes to the beauty of the game with stand-out photos that you may never have seen.
1. John Barnes vs Everton 1988
During the 1980s, England had huge problems with hooliganism and alongside that were racial issues that were considered normal amongst many radicalised fans. Yet there were many black players in the divisions across England and in the national side. One of them being one of the most talented in the squad; John Barnes.
However, during the Merseyside derby, the England winger was subjected to a racist insult when an Everton fan threw a banana at him. Yet in the picture, Barnes is seen nonchalantly backheeling the banana away from him without even considering it. A great way of responding to the racist abuse but also shocking how calm he was about it as if it was normal.
2. Diego Maradona vs Belgium 1982
Now Diego Maradona was a magician on the ball and he really did do the impossible even bending the rules at times (see the 1986 Hand of God) but this photo was not as magical as it seems it is.
Angles are everything from photographer
Steve Powell. It may look like Maradona is about to jinx through six different Belgium players but in fact, he is receiving a pass from teammate Ossie Ardilles just as the Belgium side break from lining up in a wall for a free kick.
Nevertheless, the context of the picture does not take anything away from how truly magnificent this photo looks as all the Belgium players stare at the genius in the famous blue and white striped shirt with the number 10 emblazoned on the back.
3. Marco Materazzi and Rui Costa, Milan Derby, 2005
Milan Derbies are never quiet and this one was no different. For two sides that share the same stadium, you would imagine that they want to take of their stadium a bit more. This was not the case and the game was interrupted by Inter fans who were upset as they were en route to be knocked out of the Champions League by their bitter rivals and then had a goal disallowed.
Then flares came down onto the pitch giving the San Siro a hellish-looking red smoke. The game was abandoned but in the midst of all the chaos, the photographer found two rival players looking at the mess at the San Siro. Materazzi, of Inter, and Rui Costa, of Milan, were snapped looking directly at the mess in front of them.
What makes this photo even better is the fact that the Italian centre half is
leaning on the Portuguese international as if they were best friends rather than players in the middle of a red cauldron created by the opposing fans.
