GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY in Glen Cove, NY will present items from the Collection of Jeffrey M. Kaplan in their upcoming fall auction on Saturday, October 8th at 10am. This world-renowned collection - spanning 8 collecting categories over the course of 1,000 years - includes American art, as the Oscar Bluemner demonstrates, as well as Japanese, Art Deco, works on paper, decorative arts and more. The son of Rhoda and Melvin Kaplan, Jeffrey Kaplan's father Melvin started the family real estate business in 1951, building more than 2,500 homes on Long Island, as well as nine shopping centers - with Woodberry Commons being the most recognizable.

The auction will also feature hundreds of lots of Fine Art, Decorative Arts, 20th Century Modern, Antique and Vintage Furniture, Textiles, Silver, Jewelry, Rugs, Collectibles, Asian Art, Decorative Arts, and Lighting. Previews will be held on Thursday, October, 6th and Friday, October 7th from 10am - 6pm.

The Collection of Jeffrey M. Kaplan’s affinity for American Art is demonstrated by the exquisite Oscar Florianus Bluemner (American, 1867-1938), "Bulk Head" watercolor on paper in a gilt frame. From the Jeffrey M. Kaplan Art Collection, purchased from Pensler Gallery, Washington DC on 12/15/1999 for $9,500. Estimate $6,000 - $9,000.

Fine art from other estates will include a Ray Parker (American, 1922-1990) – Abstract acrylic painting on paper, glued to canvas, signed on verso "R. Parker, 1978." [30 1/2" H x 22 1/2" W]. Estimate $2,000 - $3,000 and a Louisa Matthiasdottir (Icelandic, 1917-2000) oil on canvas portrait of Hyde Solomon, signed on bottom. [Sight: 15" H x 12" W; Frame: 15 3/4" H x 12 3/4" W]. Estimate $1,500 - $2,500.

Already getting pre-auction attention is the Harriet W. Frishmuth (American, 1880-1980: "The Vine" - Bronze Sculpture with dark patinafinish titled "The Vine", stamped RBW, dated 1921. From a private residence in Armonk, New York. [Sculpture: 11 1/2" H; Overall: 12" H]. Estimate $8,000 - $12,000, as well as a very rare book: “ Egypt& Nubia," Vol 1, Folio Ed, 1846, From Drawings made on the spot By David Roberts R.A. with Historical Descriptions By William Brockedon, F.R.S. Lithographed by Louis Haghe. Vol I. London, F.G. Moon, 20. Threadneedle Street. Publisher In Ordinary To Her Majesty. MDCCCXLVI.” Elephant folio edition (sheet size 614 x 425 mm.), Estimate $7,000 - $9,000 and a John Keats (British, 1795-1821) "Lamia & Other Poems" 1st Ed. Book, The Eve of St. Agnes, and Other Poems", fully bound in green leather with gilt letters, with French curl marbled end pages, First Edition, 1820, 12mo (duodecimo), with rear advertisement leaves and written inscription to pages. [7 1/4" H x 41/2" W]. Estimate $5,000 - $7,000.

In the Asian decorative arena, a pair of porcelain plaques depicting mountainous landscapes, one with red chop seal mark. [Overall: 36 1/2" H x 10" W]. Estimate $7,000 - $10,000 will be offered, along with a Chinese Embroidered Court Robe, with three five-clawed dragons on a blue ground with ruyi-shaped clouds and flaming pearl auspicious emblems, having terrestrial diagram over the striped hem. [Rear collar to hem: 56" Center neck to sleeve cuff: 35 1/2" Across chest under sleeve: 31"]. Estimate $4,000 - $6,000.

A superb selection of antique furniture will include a Mid 18th C. Italian Rococo Kingwood Bombe Commode, elaborately inlaid parquetry veneered Italian Rococo kingwood bombe commode, with bronze mounts and agate veneered top. [Case only: 34 1/2" H x 51" W x 21" D; Marble top: 2" H x 51 1/2" W x 23 1/4" D]. Estimate $8,000 - $12,000, a pair of Regency Decorated Servers, Pair of antique 19th century Regency mahogany servers/credenzas with oval brass appliques and black tops. [38 1/2" H x 46 1/2" W x 15 1/2" D]. Estimate $3,000 - $4,000 and a 19th C. French Oval Gueridon, antique Louis XVI-style oval gueridon with a grey marble top having a reticulated gallery and ormulu mounted urn supports atop a x-design stretcher on pan footed supports. [33" H x 33" W x 27" D]. Estimate $2,000 - $3,000.
