Fragile Crossings: Part II (Installation View).

NEW YORK, NY.- Marianne Boesky Gallery and Goodman Gallery announced the second iteration of Fragile Crossings, an exhibition jointly organized by Goodman Gallery and Marianne Boesky Gallery on view this summer across New York and London. This is the galleries’ second major collaboration following a pop-up exhibition in the Miami Design District in 2020.

Fragile Crossings is a group show featuring works by artists from both galleries. The exhibition focuses on the fragility of the human condition and reflects each galleries’ interest in foregrounding artists who address critical issues of migration, social justice and environmental responsibility. It builds on the interplays between ecological and interpersonal displacement and between material form and historical narrative.

This iteration includes work by Pier Paolo Calzolari, Suzanne McClelland, and Donald Moffett from Marianne Boesky Gallery's roster as well as Dor Guez, Nicholas Hlobo, Grada Kilomba, Kapwani Kiwanga, and William Kentridge in collaboration with Marguerite Stephens from Goodman Gallery.

Featured works experiment with fabric and found objects to explore themes relating to mechanisms of movement, opening up multi-layered access points for thinking about the nuances of human fragility. Personal narratives come to the fore as the works draw from historical records, stories of forced migration, urban planning policies, desires for new pathways and preserved memories.

The exhibition also features work made from organic matter, reflecting on the human relationship to the environment, and considers mathematical formulae as alternate forms of communication. The marriage of works by artists from each gallery offers an urgent and holistic look at the state of human fragility in today’s world––and at the possibility for resilience.
