Detroit Institute of Arts names Jennifer Snyder as its first Chief Digital Officer
Snyder currently serves as the Director of Digital Experience at SFMOMA.

DETROIT, MICH.- Following a nationwide search, the Detroit Institute of Arts has named Dr. Jennifer Snyder the museum’s first Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Snyder will join the DIA on August 15, 2022.

Snyder currently serves as the Director of Digital Experience at SFMOMA, where she is responsible for all non-art digital platforms and online content strategy, including in-gallery digital applications, interactives, SFMOMA.org, social media, and email. She previously served as the Director of Interactive Media at the Art Institute of Chicago where she built multiple award-winning digital applications, produced dozens of films and developed a narrative-driven website. Her previous accomplishments include producing interactive tools and digital strategy for nationally recognized museums, cultural institutions, and public spaces in the U.S., such the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Eisenhower Memorial, Change by US, and the Bob Graham Center.

In this new role, Snyder will set the strategic direction for digital design, user experiences, digital production and publishing, information technology, and digital processes within DIA to maximize the museum’s assets and platforms. This inaugural position oversees and guides the implementation of a digital strategy and the associated processes, systems, and technologies to connect the DIA’s collection, information, assets, and programming with new and existing audiences locally, nationally, and internationally.

“The DIA is a leader in the field providing in-person museum experiences and over the last several years we have made great progress creating meaningful digital engagements beyond the museum walls, allowing us to reach new audiences regionally, nationally and internationally,” said Salvador Salort-Pons, DIA Director. “We would like to build on our recent digital work and bring the DIA to the forefront of this field. Jennifer’s background and skills will help us create the first DIA’s digital division, lead the DIA’s digital strategy and build the necessary capabilities that enable efficient teamwork and inspire our onsite and online audiences.”
