HONG KONG.- Christie’s 2022 Hong Kong Spring Auctions will kick off with a series of wine sales featuring two magnificent single-owner collections: “The Visionary’s Spectacular Cellar – Sold to Further the Impact of London Business School” (detailed press release here), and “The Ultimate Private Collection Featuring The Greatest Burgundies Part II”, to be offered across two live auctions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, which will immediately be followed by an online-only auction.

On 21 May, the live auction of The Visionary’s Spectacular Cellar will first present over 820 lots of the greatest wines from celebrated producers, including DRC, Bordeaux First Growths, Petrus, Le Pin, Cheval Blanc, Burgundy, and Henri Jayer; from 23 May to 8 June, the online-only auction will offer Part ll of this spectacular cellar, showcasing almost 700 lots of fine and rare bottles from both esteemed and up-and-coming names, from DRC, Rousseau, Leroy, to Rossignol Trapet, Domaine de la Vougeraie, and Bruno Clavelier. Proceeds of both auctions will be donated to further the impact of London Business School, the alma mater of the visionary collector.

Building on the exceptional live sale results of The Ultimate Private Collection Featuring The Greatest Burgundies last May in Hong Kong, from 22 – 23 May, Christie’s is delighted to present Part ll of this significant collection, featuring over 900 lots of top Burgundies, Bordeaux, and Champagne. Top highlights include wines from DRC, Leroy, Rousseau, Henri Jayer, and Georges Roumier; a superb selection of white Burgundies by Coche-Dury, Leflaive, Comte Lafon, Ramonet, and Raveneau; rare vintages of Latour, Margaux and Mouton, as well as a fabled assemblage of Champagne featuring Krug Clos du Mesnil, Salon, Louis Roederer Cristal, and Dom Pérignon Oenothèque.

Michelle Chan, Head of Wine, Christie’s Asia Pacific commented, “We are very honoured to have been entrusted with the sales of two very important and major single-owner collections, which both demonstrate the vision, focus, devotion, passion, and expertise of the two distinguished wine connoisseurs. Not only do they aspire to acquire the rarest and finest wines from celebrated producers around the world, but they also embrace the same enthusiasm in sharing their precious purchases that they have amassed for decades, with wine lovers across the globe.

The wine market in Asia is as vibrant as ever, and the demand for diverse and quality wines from single-owner collections is surging, as reflected by the results of our white-glove sale of ‘Iconic Wines From Joseph Lau’ last month. By offering these two extraordinary personal cellars with a historic combined estimated total at HK$165M, this spring, our Hong Kong saleroom will open another monumental chapter for wine auctions at Christie’s.”
