As we celebrate International Childrens Day on June 1,
Yee Wong has launched this beautiful artwork mixing pop culture and the happiness of children. Yee is the creative director of this artwork. This creative genius often uses the beauty of our world mixed with surreal or futuristic twists, and this piece is no different.
International childrens day dates to 1925 when representatives met in Geneva Switzerland for a conference on the worldwide wellbeing of children. After the conference had concluded a series of worldwide governments designated June 1 as a day to highlight childrens issues and take the same level of dedication and focus on children each year. Since the year 1950, it has been celebrated by the UN and countries included in the UN as Universal Childrens day.
The bold and vivid colors that make up this international Childrens Day piece attracts the eye and invites a sense of wonder. The children in the piece capture the fun and innocence of childhood.
Mixing children and pop culture in art pieces is a new bold concept. The creative backdrop mixed with the poses of the children creates something bold yet also incredibly innocent and playful.
Yee Wongs artwork is inspired by the innocence of young children and the happiness that they bring into the world. She aims to tap into the minds of viewers and invoke a childlike wonder that remind them of their vivid and fun childhood imagination. In this artwork, the baby girl kissing another baby represents the innocent love of children. This is also a very important message that Yee wants to communicate with the viewers. When we are children, we are so innocent that we love everyone, even strangers with a pure heart. As we grow older, we seems to forget how to love others innocently like when we were a children. Therefore Yee wants to create art for children to capture their pure love.
The pink wig represents the fantasy world that is often depicted in pop culture helping us step into a surreal perspective as we view art. The kids and the backdrop are based in reality whereas the costume creates an imaginative fantasy world.
While the overall goal of the piece is to mix pop culture with the true innocence of childhood, the piece is ultimately designed to be uplifting to any viewer. Yee Wong is an artist with the singular vision of creating pieces that will be a breath of fresh air in a world that is often so filled with darkness. With so many artists honing their lens on the darkness in our world, this piece to celebrate Childrens day in June is something that can spread joy in viewers worldwide.
