Why Do People Prefer Sugaring Over Waxing?

Sugar waxing is a more popular hair removal method as it removes hair more safely. The reason why the majority prefer sugar waxing hair removal is because of the number of benefits it has to offer.

Let us review in detail, the important aspects and advantages of sugaring.

What is sugaring?
Sugar waxing hair removal is a popular epilation method where a waxing paste made of sugar, lemon, and water is applied to your skin and, when pulled, removes the unwanted body hairs with it.

The sugar waxing paste can be prepared at home as easily available ingredients. These are also available in the market readymade. However, removing your body hair under the supervision of an experienced esthetician is highly suggested. They inspect your skin, get rid of excess oil, exfoliate and tailor the procedure as per your skin type.

Why is sugar waxing more preferred than regular waxing?
People prefer sugar waxing mainly because of the natural ingredients, which causes less or no irritation at all. The mixture is applied with gloved hands, and the paste is applied to a small area while regular wax is applied to a larger area. Even though traditional waxing is less time-consuming as it epilates more area in less time, the pain increases with an increase in area. Therefore, for those looking for waxing that doesn't hurt much, sugar waxing is the right choice for you. Unfortunately, most people are allergic to chemical preservatives, and the skin elicits allergic reactions like rashes, breakouts, ingrown and more.

Irritated skin is an indication of barrier breakage, which happens due to the harsh pulling of skin during waxing. On the other hand, the sugaring wax adheres to the unwanted body hairs and doesn't pull skin along with it. In addition, the sugar paste is water-soluble, making the cleaning process easy after the session. Finally, regular wax needs to be melted at a high temperature, while sugaring paste comes in a candy-like texture that doesn't need to be melted.

Epilation leaves the pores open on the skin, which gets easily infected. Sugaring mixture is a non-comedogenic agent that doesn't clog pores; therefore, the risk of ingrown hairs and breakouts is highly unlikely. Advances sugaring technique ensures lubrication of the follicle. The paste warps around the unwanted hair completely and prevents hair breakage. This way, extraction becomes easy and more gentle. With frequent sugaring treatments, the hair follicles gradually deplete, reducing the regrowth time considerably. Dark patches are the most common side effects hair removal enthusiasts face, but sugaring leaves the surface smooth and clean. This method is effective for hair of 3mm to 7mm hair and prevents breakage completely, while waxing can be done on long hairs and leaves behind 15%- 30% hair breakage.

Wrapping it up
People choose sugaring over waxing due to numerous reasons, some of which are discussed above. The sugaring paste is hypoallergenic and suitable for almost every skin type. In addition, sugaring has very limited post-waxing side effects. With proper care and procedures, you can enjoy smooth hairless skin for over a month.
