NEW YORK, NY.- Christie’s will present Jewels Online and The Flawless Star, open for bidding online from 28 March to 7 April. The sale includes over 200 lots with more than half of all lots being offered without reserve. With estimates starting at all price points, this auction will delight seasoned collectors and jewelry enthusiasts alike.

Leading the sale is The Flawless Star, a superb round brilliant-cut D-color, Flawless diamond of 45.46 carats ($4,000,000-6,000,000), the highest valued jewel to be offered in an online-only sale. The Flawless Star belongs to the rare Type IIa category, which make up less than 2% of all diamonds. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure and are characterized by their exceptional transparency. These stones have no traces of nitrogen, which creates a purity of color that is observed only in the finest diamonds originating from the fabled mines of Golconda, Brazil and South Africa.

Other highlights of the sale include designs by renowned jewelry houses such as Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, Graff, Harry Winston, JAR, Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Seaman Schepps, Tiffany & Co., and Verdura. Specially featured in the sale are selections of Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, including many interpretations of the iconic Alhambra motif such as a turquoise ‘Vintage Alhambra’ long necklace ($10,000-15,000) and diamond ‘Magic Alhambra’ earrings ($15,000-20,000).

• In 2011, Christie’s became the first auction house to create its own integrated online sale platform (Elizabeth Taylor Online totaled $9.5 million).

• In June 2020, a spectacular diamond ring of 28.86 carats sold for $2,115,000, the highest valued lot to be sold in an online-only sale of jewelry at Christie’s.

• In 2021, 63% of all bids were placed online and 64% of new clients came to Christie’s through online sales.

• In 2021, the average lot value of online sales at Christie’s increased by 47%.

• In February 2022, the Jewels Online sale received record participation with the highest number of bidders from a New York Jewels online sale and attracted global participation from 28 countries.
