Peripheral Artery Disease: Why Is It Important To Clear Clogged Arteries?

Peripheral artery disease(PAD), also known as the peripheral vascular disease is one of the common circulatory diseases outside your heart and brain. It occurs when the arteries and veins carrying the blood outside your brain and heart get blocked or clogged. In PAD due to the deposition of the plaque on the arteries wall, the arteries get narrower and harder than usual, a kind of heart disease and is termed atherosclerosis, which restricts the blood and oxygen supply to your body organs and limbs.

With time if the condition persists then the build-up plaque grows leading to the
formation of clots which then completely block the arteries. This if left undiagnosed and untreated can cause damage to the organ or loss of fingers, toes, or limbs.

The main site of PAD is your legs which mainly occur during exercise and get overcome by taking a rest. However, it can occur in your other body parts also like arms, stomach, kidney, and intestine.

On an estimation, around 8.5 million people in America are suffering from peripheral arterial disease. It is more common in African-Americans and men are more prone to the disease than women. However, the rate of progression of PAD may vary among individuals and mainly depends on the site of formation of plaque and the person's overall health.

Though the condition if left untreated may lead to some serious health complications, physical activity and a healthy diet can result in improved symptoms.

Symptoms Of Peripheral Arterial Disease

Most people don't experience any symptoms at the beginning which makes the diagnosis and the treatment of PAD quite difficult. However, the symptoms may vary from person to person and some of its commonly seen symptoms are:

● Intermittent claudication is the first experienced symptom of PAD which is characterized by pain in the calf muscles especially while walking or climbing stairs. Some people may experience pain in the hips also.
● Loss of hair of feet and legs.
● Weakness in the legs
● Numb legs

One of the common PAD symptoms is facing problems in getting or maintaining erections during sexual intercourse. Cenforce 100 is often taken by men to treat their erection issues. Cenforce 100 contains sildenafil which improves the blood flow to your penis to have a firm erection. Cenforce 100 however interacts with other medicines making your condition worse.

Factors Leading To Arterial Disease

Though atherosclerosis is the most common cause associated with peripheral arterial disease, various other risk factors may increase your chances of getting PAD. Some of the less common causes of PAD are:

● Arterial blood clots
● Injured limbs
● The abnormal formation of muscles and ligaments
● Smoking
● Diabetes
● Excessive weight gain
● Increased age
● High cholesterol levels
● Family medical background of heart disease
● Excessive formation of C-reactive protein or homocysteine

Complications Related To Peripheral Arterial Disease

The undiagnosed and untreated PAD may lead to some serious health complications like:

● Stroke- Which is the result of restriction of blood supply to the brain

● Heart Attack - A prolonged interruption to the blood supply to the heart muscle leads to a heart attack.

● Transient ischemic attack (TIA)- This is due to a time being hindrance in the blood supply to the brain.

● Erection issues in men are one of the common complications of PAD. Cenforce 100 helps in achieving firm erections. Cenforce 100 being a PDE5 inhibitor relaxes your penile muscles which improves the blood supply and aids in having an erection. Cenforce 100 can make your condition worse if taken in heart disease. Cenforce 100 can often interact with some heart medicines which can lead to serious side effects.

Treatment Of Peripheral Arterial Disease

Medications and a few lifestyle modifications are some of the effective treatment methods available to cure peripheral arterial disease.

Lifestyle Modifications

Most of the doctors focus on a few lifestyle changes at the beginning to overcome the risk factors and to reduce the symptoms of PAD. Consider the following lifestyle modifications to treat peripheral arterial disease:

Exercise Regularly

Regular exercising is one of the effective ways to cure PAD. Walking is often the most promising way to slowly start the daily exercise routine. Gradually shifting to mild leg and treadmill exercises will help in overcoming symptoms of PAD within just 4 to 8 weeks.

Have A Healthy Diet

An unhealthy and imbalanced diet is one of the leading factors resulting in PAD. Consumption of processed food items and a diet rich in trans and unsaturated fats results in high cholesterol levels which leads to the formation of plaque on the walls of arteries interrupting blood circulation and causing PAD. Exclude all these food items from your meal and include lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables, lean protein, legumes, and cereals in your meal. A healthy diet not only boosts your overall blood circulation but also helps in shedding your extra pounds which can result in PAD.

Quit Smoking

It has been found that smokers are more prone to PAD than the person who never smokes. Smokers are 4 times more likely to get the peripheral arterial disease as compared to non-smokers. Quitting smoking will help in easing the symptoms of PAD and in slowing down its progression. Avoiding smoking will also reduce the risk of other heart diseases.

Manage Other Health Conditions Associated With PAD

Managing and controlling the progression of other health conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure which makes you more susceptible to PAD will help in overcoming the condition.

Medications

Doctors mostly prescribe medicines to overcome the risk factors associated with peripheral arterial disease like high cholesterol, erection issues, and high blood pressure.

Cenforce 100 is prescribed to treat erection issues in men. Cenforce 100 effectively cures erection problems in men.

● Antihypertensive drugs and statins are prescribed to lower down the high blood pressure and body cholesterol respectively. Patients suffering from intermittent claudication are prescribed medicines like cilostazol and pentoxifylline.
