BOULDER, CO.- Natasha Mistry describes the act of painting as an adventure into one’s quiet, intuitive inner world. The artist’s abstract ink drawings, oil paintings, and watercolors activate the deeply sacred space of the subconscious. Mistry is inspired by the remarkable similarities between the geometric patterns found in the natural world and those she observes during meditation. Her colorful and vibrant works are as lively and playful as they are meditative and still. She follows an intuitive creative process and invites viewers to be present and attuned to the experience of interpreting what they see. Mistry’s graphic and sometimes minimalist abstractions are unique, personal expressions of color, pattern, and saturation.

Natasha Mistry creates colorful, abstract oil paintings, watercolors, collages, and black-and-white ink drawings. Her paintings are whimsical and playful yet meditative in their complexity. Her drawings are graphic, minimalist, and esoteric. Mistry paints intuitively, journeying into the wild terrain of her unconscious imagination. She is fascinated with the process of inner investigation that arises from the act of painting.

Her paintings are untitled expressions of color, pattern, and saturation that vibrate with intensity. Each work is a unique adventure for viewers to interpret. The pieces are best experienced over repeated viewings.

Mistry has been exploring the subconscious since she began drawing mandalas as a teenager. Despite her Indian heritage, she was brought up in Western culture and was unaware of mandalas. Her intuitive artistic process led her to draw and paint the circular shapes. Mistry earned her BFA from Manchester School of Art, UK. Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally.
