PERRY GREEN.- Sophie Greenstreet joins
Henry Moore Studios & Gardens as their first ever Engagement Curator. Her role will focus on the development and delivery of an inspirational learning and engagement programme that underpins the activities of Henry Moore Studios & Gardens and our touring exhibitions. She will be looking to make connections with schools, students, vulnerable young adults, community groups, artists and creative professionals to engage and encourage interest in the visual arts and the work of Henry Moore.
Prior to this, she was Learning & Events Public Programmer at Somerset House Trust where she led on planning, developing and producing engagement and skills activity held in association with onsite exhibitions, resident artists and organisations and strategic and thematic agendas.
Sophie has over ten years experience of working with multidisciplinary arts and cultural engagement across galleries, museums, charities, borough arts services, city-wide festivals and studios. Most recently these include Somerset House Trust, Design Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. With a passion for the social role of arts in society, Sophies creative practice is human centred, supported by a background in Visual Communications and further studies in Arts Anthropology and Globalisation, and Arts Therapy.
Sophies appointment as the first Engagement Curator at Henry Moore Studios & Gardens represents a pivotal moment in the Foundations history. Henry Moore believed that art is for everyone, and created the Foundation to provide opportunities for its enjoyment and for creative inspiration. It is this legacy that drives our commitment to placing learning and public engagement at the heart of all our programmes. Sophie will play a big part in shaping our work to reflect the Foundations ambitions to be inclusive and generous, to encourage innovative and visionary thinking and to inspire people from all walks of life, irrespective of their backgrounds and abilities. Sebastiano Barassi, Head of Henry Moore Collections & Programmes.
Sophies creative programmes aim to enable learning outcomes and exchange for all involved, participants, practitioners and organisations alike. These explore issues of our time, artist and audience development and co-production, opening up access routes and developing alternative models to traditional art schooling to hold space for sharing, solution sourcing and instigating change.
