Last Chance to See French Landscape Painting |

OBERLIN, OHIO.-Experience The Splendor of Ruins in French Landscape Painting, 1630-1800 at the Allen Memorial Art Museum. Loans from across the country are included in this splendid exhibition of French landscapes from the 17th and 18th century. Sunday, June 19 is the last day to see these magnificent paintings before they travel to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston where they will be on view from July 17 – October 16, 2005.
Conceived of and organized by Dr. Stephen D. Borys, curator of western art at the AMAM, the exhibition includes 36 paintings by 18 French artists. Important works have been lent by 24 American and Canadian museums, including the National Gallery of Art, Washington, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto. The exhibition was made possible by funding from the NEA, OHC, OAC & S.H. Kress Foundation.
Also on view is Jim Dine, some drawings, a comprehensive show of Ohio's most famous artist. Through July 17. The Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, located in downtown Oberlin at 87 N. Main Street, is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
