HERZLIYA, ISRAEL.- Sports Photographer Hy Peskin, 89, died in Herzliya, Israel. Forty years ago he changed his legal name to Brian Blaine Reynolds. Between the 1940s and 1960s he captured memoriable images in sports. He later founded an organization that is now called the Academy of Achievement.
Among his most famous images is one of Joe DiMaggio completing his majestic swing in the 1949 All-Star Game. There are other very important images such as a through-the-ropes view of boxer Carmen Basilio, his face bloodied and his eye swollen shut, at the moment he lands a right hand to the face of his opponent, Sugar Ray Robinson.
