When the 2020 pandemic hit, Gigi Garner, daughter of Hollywood icon James Garner, found herself desperately searching for a creative outlet. Having previously been a successful jewelry designer and metalsmith, she thought she would experiment with something less physically intensive. She bought some acrylic paint and some canvases to try her hand at painting. Only a few months later, sitting in her home surrounded by over a hundred paintings, she announced that she taught herself how to paint during the pandemic on social media. She happened to post some of her work and her followers were immediately asking for prices. She was stunned, as she was not even trying to sell them! Quickly selling dozens of paintings, she knew she needed some professional representation at that point.
Garner contacted a local gallery to get a recommendation for a photographer and the gallery owner casually asked if he could see her work. She initially came in with fifty paintings and she was offered a contract that day from the prestigious ACCA GALLERY in Beverly Hills. One of the most interesting facts they discovered about her unique method is that she rarely ever uses paint brushes, preferring to use unusual objects to create her pieces. Technically a Flow Artist she has labeled herself a manipulator of paint and says, Sometimes the paint has a mind of its own! Without ever attending an art class, Gigi simply intuitively paints whatever she feels and takes the viewer on a fantastical journey through atypical hues and whimsical forms.
Realizing that the proceeds from her artwork could be a perfect way to raise money for her fathers legacy foundation called the James Garner Animal Rescue Fund: AKA JGARF, a total win-win scenario was organically born!
