Abell Auction Co. hosts Important Fine Art, Antiques, 20th Century Design and Jewelry Sale

LOS ANGELES, CA.- Abell Auction Co. will present an exquisite array of fine art, antiques, 20th Century design and fine jewelry from prominent Southern California estates at its online-only quarterly auction on Sunday, May 23 at 10 a.m. PST.

The sale will be highlighted by a spectacular Greene and Greene mahogany couch from the living room of the Robert R. Blacker House. The piece was executed in the workshop of Peter Hall, circa 1914, and comes out of an Arcadia, Calif. estate after being purchased at a lawn sale at the Blacker House in the early 1950s. Other prominent items include a large collection of David Webb fine jewelry from a single owner estate in Bel Air, Calif.

Antique and modern furniture includes Greene and Greene mahogany couch from the living room of the Robert R. Blacker House; a collection of 18th and 19th century Spanish, English, French and Italian furniture; Lalique ‘Cactus’ table; Philip & Kelvin Laverne ‘Chan’ coffee table; Steinway & Sons 1917 model ‘M’ mahogany; Steinway & Sons 1927 ebony, ‘CD’ model; Steinway & Sons 1931 Louis XV style, model ‘A’ grand piano; Steinway & Sons 1972 model ‘B’ ebony; Steinway & Sons 1996 ‘Crown Jewel’ collection, kewazinga bubinga finish grand piano; Steinway & Sons 1998 model ‘B’ ebony; and more.

Decorative arts include a first edition collection of David Roberts: “The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia”; Austro-Hungarian silver and gilt metal chess set; pottery vessel by Magdalene and Michael Frimkess; Mexican sterling tea and coffee service; Japanese bronze temple urn; two Mongolian sterling and jade wine pitchers; Tiffany & Co. sterling tea service; Buccellati sterling leaf and shell dishes; and more.

Fine art in the upcoming auction includes paintings, drawings and sculptures signed Ernie Barnes, Larry Bell, Billy Al Bengston, Franz Arthur Bischoff, Emilio P. Fiaschi, Pierre Eugene Emile Herbert, Joseph Imhoff, William Keith, Edgar Payne, Evgeni Alexandrovich (Eugene) Lanceray, Gustavo Montoya, Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson), Dan Namingha, Hanson Puthoff, Robert Riggs, Bill Schenck, Alexander Tikhomirov, William Wendt and more.

Modern and contemporary prints and multiples include works signed by Alexander Calder, Paul Gauguin, Roy Lichtenstein, Joan Miro, Man Ray, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Richard Serra and more.

Jewelry includes a platinum and diamond riviere necklace (115.16 carats total); platinum and diamond straightline bracelet (50.88 carats total); pair of Graff emerald and diamond drop earrings; Graff 18 karat white gold and diamond bangle bracelet; pair of diamond cluster earrings; William Goldberg platinum and asscher cut diamond ring (3.12 carats); Patek Philippe stainless steel ‘Nautilus’ wristwatch and 18 karat rose gold ‘Complications’ wristwatch; Audemars Piguet 18 karat yellow gold ‘Royal Oak’ watch; Vacheron Constantin ‘Les Collectionneurs’ chronograph wristwatch; Buccellati 18 karat yellow gold ‘Arischron’ wristwatch; a collection of Art Deco era jewelry; and a collection of more than 20 pieces of vintage David Webb jewelry.
