Since the graphic design industry has seen an uprise, the internet has entirely transformed from what it once was. Graphic designers are becoming more and more seen through online sources and it is clear to see the impact that the internet can make on graphic designers and their careers. However, not all graphic designers understand exactly how much the internet helps them, with some claiming that it does far more harm than good.
As graphic design expands, it is far easier to understand how the internet makes it easy for graphic designers. Amateur graphic designers cannot help but express how much the internet has aided them in their field and only have high praise for it as a whole. Some graphic designers who have never even had a chance beforehand are now holding the world in their hands with several platforms to advertise their work on.
Some say that
the greatest invention of the 20th century was the internet, and that is not only being proven in graphic design, but also several other professions. Now, in the 21st century, after a plethora of upgrades, graphic designers can advertise, promote, and share their idea and services with only the click of a button.
Since all the upgrades have come into effect, graphic designers, even ones that are just starting out, have had a whole new world of opportunities opened up for them. With a simple click of a button, you can find inspiration across the board for each individual. With Google, Pinterest, Tumblr, and even Facebook aiding them in their path, everything they need to become a fantastic graphic designers rests at their fingertips.
Online tools are becoming more and more popular as well, and as the popularity grows, so do the available tools. Now in only a few steps you can
create a poster, business cards, stickers, flyers, brochures, and so much more in a convenient, simple, and timely way. That is what makes the internet so much more beneficial to graphic designers.
With freelancing sites becoming available all over the internet, it is proof that the opportunities for graphic designers are becoming more and more apparent as time goes on. Sites like
Upwork and Fiverr exist purely for graphic designers and other freelancers to showcase their profiles and gain clients from all over the world all while pursuing their passion. While there are negative benefits of the internet, at this point I believe that they are far outweighed by all the positives.
Plenty of ‘new-age’ graphic designers are absolutely over the moon about the new world of graphic design and the internet, however, it is the ‘old school’ graphic designers that are stuck in their way and think the internet is poison due to the problems it has caused. Despite all this, it is extremely important to recognize the impact that the internet has created in the industry of graphic design whether you think it is positive or negative. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the internet has had an insanely positive effect on the graphic design industry and will continue to do so for years to come. The graphic design industry is only becoming better, stronger, and bigger throughout time and throughout the further development of the internet as an entirety.
Graphic designers are heavily sought after and favoured due to the enhancement of the internet and the jobs for graphic designers are forever emerging, change, and growing only to be heavily supported by the internet. The benefits that the graphic design industry have seen via the internet will only continue to outweigh the few disadvantages of it.
