8 Twitter tips for building a better business

As a business owner, one of the first steps to having a good online presence is creating accounts on the top social media networks. It’s where everyone is and guarantees easy discoverability from local and international audiences looking for your products or services.

Twitter is my favorite amongst all the social media platforms. It is described as the “SMS of the internet” because of it’s 280 character restriction on tweets. This helps users find the exact information they’re looking for quickly and easily .

Before we get started here are a few facts and stats about Twitter.

500 million tweets are being sent each day.
● Twitter has more than 320 million monthly active users.
● 45 percent of people who use Twitter are between the age of 18 to 25 years old.
● Twitter ads are the most effective after YouTube ads.

First impressions count

To really capture the interest of users, your front page design and headline must be perfectly crafted. Your tweets define your ‘front page’; this is the actual page that attracts people to your website or blog. Here’s a few things that you can do to create a good brand identity on Twitter.

1. Make sure you have a cover image that’s captivating and grab the attention of readers.
2. Have a clear Twitter profile picture so readers know exactly who’s Twitter page they’re viewing.
3. Write a bio that explains who you are and make sure to include your business website if you have one.
4. And most importantly, make sure your Twitter username matches your brand and business.

Another thing that is very popular is the use of stylish fonts in a business's bio. It might be worth trying to use a fancy font generator to make your Twitter profile your own.

Creativity is key

This is totally not a create it and visitors will come situation. If you really want to be successful on Twitter then you need to be creative. You need to make your Twitter account have that uniqueness that can’t be found anywhere else. Make your followers feel special when following you, offer brilliant reasons showing them that they are on the right page and that they are getting loads of info from your page.

Build your business as a source of information

One of the many ways to building a strong, reliable, and trustworthy presence for your business on Twitter is to ensure that the information carried by your tweets is of the highest quality. Make sure to always cross-check that your stats and information come from credible sources and link back when necessary. Always triple check when relaying information to people, as it’s well known that good information gets higher readers to engage.

Post highlights from events and conferences

Sharing highlights from present or past events and conferences associated with your business is a great way to spread industry insight. Try posting photos from past events with hashtags such as #FBF (#FlashbackFriday) or #TBT (#ThrowbackThursday). Recap the best moments in the form and an event in the form of an infographic, Slideshare, or even a blog. Give people the “live” experience that makes them feel like they were there.

Twitter advertising

If you’re really serious about making social media the main component in your business and marketing strategy, Twitter Ads should be one of your focal points. Having more than 320 million active users every month, advertising on Twitter will definitely help increase your business output and reach and will also generate new leads, and will provide you with an extra return for investing. Twitter has made advertising much easier as one can create a Twitter list for selected targets and it’s been considered to be very effective for campaigns.

Use the right hashtags

Did you know that a tweet that contains 1 or 2 hashtags has 33% higher engagement than the ones that contain 3 or more? Sometimes it can be tempting to squeeze in as many hashtags relating to your business in each post but it’s not a good idea.

This means when posting a business-inclined tweet you have to be careful and highly selective in your hashtag choice. Limit your hashtag choice to one or two per tweet. If you weren’t making use of hashtags, then it’s time you start. It will definitely improve your reach and allow a larger audience to view your tweets.

Pin your tweets

Twitter has a feature that allows you to pin tweets at the top of your timeline known as “pin tweet”. When anybody visits your profile, the first tweet they’ll see is the tweet you pinned. Pinned tweets are a great way to draw attention to your current or most recent and vital content. Let’s say you run a contest and you want people to retweet a promotional video on their twitter page. You can pin the post so that when they visit your page they will see that there’s a contest running. Then using a Twitter downloader users could download the video, and repost it on their page. They could even share it on Instagram, WhatsApp, and other social networking platforms.

Include different media in tweets

Tweets that contain an image or a video receive 17% more clicks than those with text alone. So, when making tweets make sure to use these them effectively. Considering 500 million tweets are sent every day, the possibilities and opportunities to reach your target audience are abundant.

Conclusion

Twitter is one of the largest in the world. If you keep your content fresh and figure out the best ways to engage with your audience then you will designate succeed. Following the information above is a great start to kick start your business on Twitter. If you have any questions or comments leave one below and we will do our best to answer. Thanks!
