The Best Casino Architecture

Casinos all over the world went a long way from being shady dents in basements to glamorous establishments they are today. Top casinos all over the world compete on who will incorporate the most breathtaking details that will fascinate everyone who sees them. Finely crafted exterior, combined with thrilling and exciting games in the interior, invites tourists from all over the world, and not only those interested in casino games.

And while some casinos tend to lose their charm after only a few years or decades, others seem to stand the test of time and leave the best online casino brands on the web behind, as they reflect glitz and glamour from all sides.

Here are some of the examples of the best casino architecture!

Monte Carlo Casino, Monaco

Casino de Monte-Carlo or simply Monte Carlo Casino has been captivating the imagination of visitors all over the world for the past 150 years. Monte Carlo Casino opened its doors in 1863 and has been operated by Société des Bains de Mer de Monaco, a public company.

Charles Garnier, the legendary architect who also built the majestic Paris Opera, applied some fairly modern concepts that survived to this day. For example, he designed a building that holds not only a casino but opera and ballet as well, thus inspiring many venues in Las Vegas that combine gambling with pop-concerts and performances. The inside of the casino is exclusive and card rooms are accessible only with a fee, but even non-gamblers should pay it, simply to enjoy the view.

The Grand Lisboa, Macau

Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man transformed the urban landscape and managed to design a building that will stand out among 38 other casinos. The Grand Lisboa dominates the skyline as it is, with 47 floors, the tallest building in Macau. The inside of the casino is as luxurious as it can be with opulent chandeliers and golden details.

Some say that it is designed in a way to symbolize Portuguese opulence from colonial times, while others suggest the building symbolizes the oceans. Whatever their inspiration may be, Lau and Man managed to create a captivating casino that will attract tourists in years to come.

Bellagio, Las Vegas

Bellagio is a name that rings a bell. Featured in numerous movies and TV-shows, it is one of the main attractions in Las Vegas. The exterior of this landmark was designed by DeRuyter Butler, while interior went into the hands of Architectural Digest’s 100 four-time winner Roger Thomas.

Bellagio is more than just a casino and a tourist resort. Besides the famous Bellagio fountains, there is also a Conservatory, Botanical gardens and Gallery of Fine Art that displays masterworks of famous names like Warhol, Monet, Faberge, and Adams. The conservatory displays five different themes throughout the year: Chinese New Year, spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Venetian Macau, Macau

Can you visit Venice in the middle of Asia? As long as you visit Venetian Macau - you can! Aedas and HKS decided to take a clue from Las Vegas Caesars, inspired by antique temples and created a magnificent landmark reminiscent of Venice. The Venetian is the largest casino venue in the world, with over 550,000 square feet of gaming space, and with a lavish interior that perfectly matches the equally impressive exterior. After all, you can even hire a gondolier to transport you from point A to point B.

Casino JOA La Seyne, La Seyne-sur-Mer

This small hotel and casino complex set alongside the new municipal park between the bay and boulevard Toussaint-Merle in La Seyne-Sur-Mer in Southern France represents a whole new approach towards brick-and-mortar casinos. Designed by Data Architectes, it embodies the rich and nautical history of its surroundings and revokes former shipyards, docks, as well as clear blue skies and azure sea. This geometrical and minimalistic building doesn’t dominate over the skyline, but rather, follows its clues. Data Architectes even suggest how it is designed with “dialogue with the environment” in mind, rather than with the intention to make an impressive venue that will dominate its surroundings.

The gambling space expands on 1000 square meters, and offers over 150 popular slots by reputable slot providers, as well as tables for classic games, with a panoramic view onto the marina.
