New Portal Helps Artists Go from Rags to Riches

SANTA BARBARA, CA.- Online publishing company Arctic Mouse, Inc. today announced the launch of its brand new portal, www.thepauper.com, helping artists and creatives of all types with the art of money and success. The ironically titled website, invoking the image of the starving artist, actually empowers artists with the tools and resources they need to achieve success, not only with their careers, but with their finances as well.

Founded by three artists who met while working in the financial planning industry, The Pauper fills a much needed gap in the online world by providing artists and cultural creatives a place to get reliable career and financial information that caters to their specific needs. “There are plenty of websites out there teaching artists how to develop their craft, but almost none about developing business acumen,” says co-founder of The Pauper and President, John Brindle.

“Artists usually live in a feast or famine environment, which makes their financial situations unique,” remarks New York based Nic Donarski of the Donarski Artists Financial Services Group. “The Pauper provides a very valuable service by addressing the specific needs of this important community.”

In addition to financial and career planning information, the portal has a directory of artist-related websites with search capabilities designed with artists in mind. Co-founder and Vice-President, Mark Stancato adds, “it’s a one-stop shop for artists to communicate and find what they need on the worldwide web. We want to be the place all artists rely on when using the Internet.” In addition to message boards, self-development and financial planning education, and many other features, The Pauper is also a place where artists can post their work to get feedback and exposure.

From its humble beginnings in 2001 as a newsletter, The Pauper has gained a loyal following of artists who share the belief that to succeed in the 21st century, artists not only have to be skilled in their chosen profession, but be business savvy as well. The new portal builds on the original vision that artists shouldn't die paupers.
