Contemporary womenswear brand debuts Lygia Clark editions
The editions are based on the artist’s celebrated, interactive “Os Bichos” series.

NEW YORK, NY.- UMA | Raquel Davidowicz - the Brazilian-based, contemporary womenswear fashion brand headed by Chief Designer and Co-Founder Raquel Davidowicz, debuts a series of sculptural editions by iconic Brazilian mid-century artist Lygia Clark, available in time for the holiday season at the brand’s newly opened SoHo location.

UMA | Raquel Davidowicz, co-founded and designed by Raquel Davidowicz, is a Brazilian, family-owned brand specialized in timeless pieces for the contemporary woman. Manufactured in Sao Paulo and serving a global clientele, UMA | Raquel Davidowicz focuses on outstanding quality, fair work relationships and modern aesthetics regardless of age or size.

A result of a collaboration with Clark’s granddaughter, art entrepreneur Alessandra Clark, the editions are based on the artist’s celebrated, interactive “Os Bichos” series, which the late artist had always wanted to democratize and make accessible, and not keep solely confined to the gallery and museum space.

“The entire process of our SS13 show happened in response to O Munda de Lygia Clark and the artist’s work. Her will to approximate the spectator and the intention to create a bond with life, led me to research her “timeless” and innovative background. This concept was the leading thread that made me find in Lygia, a huge and moving source of inspiration to this day,” says Raquel Davidowicz, Co-Founder and Designer of UMA | Raquel Davidowicz.

“The beginning of the partnership between UMA and the cultural association O Mundo De Lygia Clark years ago was triumphant, persisting for many years. I believe this is not only due to similar creative structures, but also because of UMA's openness when uniting distinctive interfaces in new projects,” said Alessandra Clark.

UMA | Raquel Davidowicz enjoys a dedicated art and dance world cult following, known for clothes that allow for ease of movement with an airy quality. Most recently UMA partnered with São Paulo Companhia de Dança, where UMA | Raquel Davidowicz was responsible for all costumes.
