NEW YORK, NY.- The New York based international gallery
JanKossen Contemporary will be opening its Venice gallery space in tandem with this years 57th Venice Biennale on the 10th of May. The inaugural exhibition entitled, Nuovi Orizzonti, will showcase works by Suh Jeong Min (KR), Jürgen Jansen (GER), Troy Simmons (US), Dirk Salz (GR) and Michael Burges (GR). The exhibition will run from May 10th July 16th, 2017.
Nuovi Orizzonti will present dynamic conceptual abstractionists whose work not only elevate each other but contrast within medium and aesthetic. There are contrasting plays between light and shadow, superflat and texture, clean lines vs. action painting, and a push/pull of architecturalism. Compared to the traditional gallery setting, our location in Venice, the palace Palazzo Corner Spinelli will allow for a more dynamic viewing experience and for a curatorial contrast between the white box gallery experience and historical traditionalism.
Venice has always been a source of inspiration for both artists and collectors alike, says Jasmin Kossenjans, Gallery owner, so it makes sense for JanKossen to select Venice as its European Headquarters. Palazzo Corner Spinelli is a beautiful, 15th century historic building with soaring 24 foot ceilings on the Canal Grande, which is a perfect venue for our gallery to showcase our larger scaled works.
Palazzo Corner Spinelli in the San Marco district - will be a gallery and educational institute as well as offer a meeting point for collectors.
