AMSTERDAM.- Eduard Planting Gallery in Amsterdam presents from 25 March until 13 May an exhibition of Dutch photographer Edland Man. In his new series 'You-Wells' he offers a kind of subcutaneous look into mechanisms and flexibility inside bodies. The naked human bodies are fused with labels of luxurious contemporary gadgets and popular high-end fashion brands.

Edland Man uses digital techniques to emphasize the fluidity of bodies. In his art series 'Metals' (2002) and 'Liquids' (2011) the undressing of the body is a complex mechanism, a substantial liquid dimension of the body in everyday life where clothes just are a temporary form and status, with which the personality and the resulting (self) image freezes.

In the series 'You-Wells' (2016) the photographer plays with the visual language of advertising campaigns by luxury labels and exaggerate them. The question arises whether the triptych which the artist has put down with the three series leads to a surrender or takes a critical turn against commercializing of the brands and blind over-consumption of some of the fashion followers.

Edland Man (1957) lives and works in Amsterdam and Milan. He received international acclaim as fashion illustrator and photographer. His work has been published in magazines such as Avenue, Lei, Per Lui, Vanity and Vogue. As creative director he worked for Sportswear International Magazine.

The visionary artist has made high-profile work for Fiorucci and design label Moooi of Marcel Wanders. Works by Edland Man are included in the collection of the Groninger Museum. In 2013 a selection has been showcased at the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition in the Kunsthal Rotterdam.
