ANTWERP.- Plus One gallery and Nate Lights, the online gallery for Mid-Century lighting design, present REFLECTOR: an exhibition of light sculptures by 15 national and international artists.
Each invitied contemporary artist created a lamp as a work of art in a limited edition. Amongst others, there is a new series of neons inspired by the personal guitar collection of Belgian artist Joris Van de Moortel; a luminous sculpture in primary colors by German artist Edi Danartono; and a computer generated light sculpture by Nicolas Pelzer, based on one of the most primary images in human history: handprints from pre-historic cave paintings.
In addition to the editions of Edi Danartono (DE), Joris Van de Moortel Nicolas Pelzer (DE), Oscar Hugal G. Leddington (UK) and Dirk Zoete, new editions by Almudena Lobera (ES), Guillaume Bijl Erika Hock (DE), Tom Volkaert, Wesley Meuris, Geert Goiris Koen Sels, Helene Claes & Zach Bishop (UK) and Gijs Van Vaerenbergh will be presented.
With his light installation Night-horse (°^°HIHA), the Belgian artist Dirk Zoete has added a new dimension to his sculptures which are the results of photographic improvisation sessions in the artists studio. Zoete creates his primitive-looking sculptures of horses in relation to a series of drawings (Mountain Man, The Wild Bunch, Showing the corpse), inspired by the iconic stop-motion pictures and videos of the British photographer Eadweard Muybridge.
On the last day of the exhibition, January 19th, the glossy magazine "REFLECTOR" will be revealed: a quirky reflection on the exhibition by Alexey Shlyk and Ben Van den Berghe, artist and also curator of Nate Lights' Artist Editions.
