MILFORD, CONN.- Shannon’s Fine Art Auctioneers announces the upcoming auction of a vast collection of classic to contemporary views of New York City.

This fresh to the market compilation of New York City Scenes is the largest collection to ever come to auction in Connecticut. Forty-four (44) paintings of views of New York City by leading artists from the early 20th century to the present day will be included in the sale.

The leading feature is a classic example by Guy Carleton Wiggins, known for his impressionistic snow scenes of New York City, Wall Street and the Sub Treasury, measuring 25 inches by 30 inches, is estimated to bring $150,000-$250,000. A second work by Wiggins, Fifth Avenue, 24 inches by 20 inches, should achieve $60,000-$80,000. Also included in the impressionist category are major examples by Paul Cornoyer (1864-1923), Johann Berthelsen(1883-1972), Edmund Greacen(1876-1949), and many more.

Contemporary views of the Big Apple by John Terelak, Bruce Braithwaite, Lee Lash, Ken Keeley and many others are included in this very important collection, most are from a private New York collection.

The sale will offer will include a wide array of paintings at price levels from $1,000-$200,000. The most sophisticated collectors as well as beginning collectors will find something of interest.

The auction will take place at the company’s main facility located at 354 Woodmont Rd. in Milford, CT. Those wishing to bid live in the audience may register in person the day of the auction.

The public previews will be held daily starting on Monday, April 18th and will run through auction day, Thursday, April 28th. Preview hours will be weekdays 11am-6pm; Saturday April 23rd from 10am-3pm (closed on Sunday, April 24th) and April 28th, auction day (noon to 5:30 p.m.).
