NEW YORK, NY.- Galeria Nara Roesler announced the opening of a viewing space at 47 West 28th Street in New York City. This is the gallerys first space outside of Brazil, and marks the first time that a Brazilian gallery has opened a space in New York City. Under the leadership of Nara, Daniel and Alexandre Roesler, the New York outpost will be overseen by Galeria Nara Roeslers Artistic Director Alexandra Garcia Waldman.
In March, Galeria Nara Roesler New York will open an exhibition of very rarely seen film works by one of Brazil´s most prolific contemporary film and video artists, Cao Guimaraes. The show will be curated by Moacir dos Anjos, who previously curated Guimaraes mid-career survey show at Itau Cultural in 2014. The exhibition will happen in collaboration with Cinema Tropical. In May, the gallery will open an exhibition spanning the 60-year career of Brazil´s most important Kinetic artist, Abraham Palatnik, concurrent with a presentation of his work at Frieze New Yorks Spotlight, curated by Clara M. Kim.
Nara Roesler, the founder of Galeria Nara Roesler, says, I am thrilled to have a presence and a space in New York where we can connect with collectors, curators, and artists. The viewing space allows us to show works by our extensive roster of artists, and expand the reach and legacy of Galeria Nara Roesler."
