HONG KONG.- Sotheby’s announced the appointment of Steven Zuo as Head of Classical Chinese Paintings Department of Sotheby’s Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Steven will strengthen the department’s businesses in Asia and be responsible for the collection, authentication and appraisal of classical Chinese paintings for auctions.

“It is a great pleasure to join Sotheby’s at such an exciting time. Following a series of successful sales in New York, Sotheby’s relaunched the Classical Chinese Paintings department in Hong Kong this year and drew great results at its debut sale in October. I look forward to working closely with my team in bringing the finest and rarest works to our collectors here in Asia”, said Steven Zuo.

Kevin Ching, CEO of Sotheby’s Asia, said, “I am delighted to welcome Steven to Sotheby’s as Head of Classical Chinese Paintings. In his new role, Steven will continue to build on the fruitful foundations of collaboration with the Classical Chinese Paintings department in New York. He will be responsible for leading the Hong Kong team, including our specialist Sally Fong, to drive and grow our businesses in Asia.”

For the past eighteen years, Steven has honed his art expertise through both curatorial and auction roles in mainland China and Hong Kong. Steven graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literature from the College of Arts at An Hui University and went on to complete his Master of Arts in Art History at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
