WELLESLEY, MASS.- Dr. Lisa Fischman, Ruth Gordon Shapiro Director of the
Davis Museum at Wellesley College in Massachusetts, has appointed Tsugumi Joiner as the Associate Director of Operations and Collections Management. Joiner assumed her new role in the spring of 2015, and will continue to work closely with Fischman on the overall management of the Davis Museums growing collections and the long-term strategic planning of the institution. Joiner will also oversee financial management, museum technology, security and facilities, and daily operations for the Davis.
Joiner comes to the Davis Museum from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), where she served in many positions during her nearly 18-year tenure. During her time as Head of Gallery Planning and Installations, Joiner was instrumental in the organization of the Art of the Americas Wing, the transformational building expansion and renovation that opened in 2010. She also played a major role in the unveiling of seven new galleries dedicated to the Contemporary collections in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art, which opened in 2011.
Tsugumis vast experience in fine art museum planning and management will be a tremendous asset in helping us to prepare for future projects at the Davis, said Lisa Fischman. During her short tenure so far, we are already well on our way to a successful unveiling of the major reinstallation of all of the permanent collections galleries in Fall 2016.
Joiners previous positions at the MFA include Project Manager of Exhibitions and Installations, and Assistant Registrar. Joiner earned her masters degree at Tufts University and a bachelors degree at Ithaca College.
